Bryan and I drew the Javelina hunt in Black Gap near Big Bend. We only got in a half day of hunting
on Tues, so we stuck by the mountains near camp. Wednesday we launched a full scale expedition in
search of Javelina, planning our route to bring us back to camp before dark. I fell climbing some rocks
and banged my scope pretty bad. A quick shooting test showed it to be 2 inches to the right and two inches
low. I made the necessary adjustments and rechecked - dead on, but I only had three shells left. A pair of
Javi's appeared just before dark. We double timed it to the ridge top for a shot. I was still breathing
heavy when we counted to three and fired. We both missed! Seeing nothing fall, I spent my last two rounds
and Bryan fired his other three as they fled. In the confusion, we both shot at the same running animal. So
even though we only bagged one Javelina, we both scored hits on it, so neither of us are complaining.
